About Deborah Wright
I've always wanted to know how the world worked, what it meant to be human in relationship with other beings in the world.
This impulse led me to many different philosophers and spiritual traditions and, like many of us, there were also times in
my life when I was so distracted that I abandoned the role of seeker. But the light never entirely burned out and "when the
student is ready, the teacher appears."
About twenty years ago, I was taking a class in trans-personal psychology and Jack Kornfield's A Path With Heart was
on the reading list. That book introduced me to vipassana, insight meditation, and I sensed that this was what I'd been searching
for: a method for answering my original questions: Who am I? Why am I here? How do I act with wisdom in the world?
I've since studied with many teachers and sat many retreats. And I've come to
realize that life and practice are inseparable. As part of my practice and my life, I offer
beginning meditation classes and weekly group sits.
